How Can I Protect my Computer Network

Your Business' War on Network Terrorism

Today, computer viruses are more prolific than the Black Plague. Many small business start ups ignore the tremendous threat to the security of their computer network, and many find that a costly error.

To keep from jeopardizing not only your own data, but also your customer's important information, you need a small business technology protection plan. Keeping your data out of reach for viruses, spyware and hackers takes diligence and keen awareness.

Keeping your network safe doesn't have to cost a small fortune. There are several steps you can take for little or no cost:

  • Passwords: ALWAYS use passwords on your business' computers, and change them frequently. Educate your staff on the importance of using strong passwords not easily hacked.
  • Firewall: A firewall keeps out undesirables from your network. If your employees use your system remotely, a firewall can also control what they can access. While there are hardware and software firewalls, hardware firewalls are better options if you have many computers that need protection.
  • Wireless Security: If, like many businesses today, you use wireless access for your network, invest in wireless security measures to prevent hackers from “tuning” in to your radio frequency.
  • Anti Everything: Each computer in your network should have both antivirus and antispyware software to keep it safe.
